About Lee's Tae Kwon Do Academy

Lee's Tae Kwon Do Academy , which formally begun in 1975 in West Palm Beach, began in actuality when Grand Master Kwna Sung Lee began his study of this Korean art of self defense over 50 years ago. He started teaching Tae Kwon Do in Oh San U.S. Air Force Base in Korea. Mostly he was dedicated to U.S. Arm Force personnel and their families. He also gave lots of effort to his town's development, producing many martial artist over the years.

Grand Master Lee became instructor of his own family also, his oldest son Master Chu Young Lee, 6th degree black belt on WTF and 7th degree black belt on IMAF, and his two other sons Master Instructor Sang Young Lee and Chang Young Lee.

Master Chu Young Lee has been training in Tae Kwon Do since 1964, and had become Jr. National Champion 1969 - 1972. He was assistant instructor to Grand Master Kwan Sung Lee at Lee's Tae Kwon Do Academy in Louisville, KY (1977 - 1984) and became U.S. Open Tae Kwon Do and Karate - Kung Fu Champion 1978, 1979. Also, he was Tae Kwon Do instructor at the University of Louisville (1980 - 1982 ). From 1982 to 1984 he served as the Tae Kwon Do instructor and Trainer at Fort Know, U.S. Army.

In 1984, he reopened Lee's Tae Kwon Do Academy in Palm Beach County, where in 1994 he and his students held a fundraiser for the children of the Florida Easter Seal Society. We raised money for student scholarships, Conners Nursery, and again the Easter Seals with a performance at the Kravis Center of West Palm Beach (Oct. 1995). Shortly after, we held a kick-a-thon in the scchool to sponsor the Leukemia Society (May 1996). More recently, in 2003, we held a kick-a-thon to benefit the Leukemia Society and raised over $10,000 in donations. Master Lee has also dedicated his time to a training program for the American Airlines personel after the terrorist attacks on our country in 2001 ,as well as, worked with the North Palm Beach Police Department in teaching various martial techniques to the officers ad personel.

Lee's Tae Kwon Do continues to carry out sponsorship programs to help the community. We are dedicated to the study of Martial Arts, but we also continue to educate ourselves, look for ways to help our community and practice the family values behind the tradition of Tae Kwon Do.

Lee's Tae Kwon Do Academy stands out in our area because of it's student's and Master's dedication and support in upholding the honor and tradition of the Internation Martial Arts Federation and the Wolrd Martial Arts Foundation. All our black belts have received their degrees from the IMAF and are bound by the rules and regulations held by the IMAF. Grand Master Lee strives to achieve the highest standards of teaching for his students.
